The St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church, Cambridge is the first Church of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church in the Cambridgeshire/East Anglia region. It was founded from the desire in the minds of handful Indian immigrants to this area in early 2005 to congregate and worship Almighty God in the traditions and practices of the Indian Orthodox Church.

With the support of Rev Fr. Abraham Thomas (Vicar-London parish) and tireless effort of then parish members, the first Indian Orthodox Service (Holy Qurbana) in Cambridgeshire was conducted on 14th January 2006 with less than ten families in St Luke Methodist Church, Papworth Everard, Cambridge. Thereafter, Holy Qurbana has been conducted regularly on all second Saturdays of every month ever since. After the 2006 Holy Week, with God's blessing faithful people from different parts of Cambridgeshire/East Anglia region and further, started joining the congregation.

In June 2007, His Grace Late Dr. Thomas Mar Makarios Metropolitan of the then UK-Canada and Europe Diocese elevated this congregation into an independent parish with St Thomas as its patron. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our Vicars Rev. Fr. Abraham Thomas and Rev. Fr. Matthew Abraham Palathinkal for their sincere and tireless effort to establish this church in Cambridgeshire.

Within our small community, we have managed to establish a vibrant and enthusiastic group of spiritual organisations such as Sunday school (held every Sunday in Papworth and Cambridge), Martha Mariam Samajam, regular Prayer meetings, MGOCSM; which are active and flourishing in the Parish. We also conduct a parish convention every year soon after the Passion Week. Canonical fasts are observed according to our faith and traditions. Memorial prayers are said remembering St Gregorios of Parumala and St Mary’s day. With God's blessing every year we conduct Church Perunal (Feast of St Thomas), Harvest Festival, Parumala Perunal, Holy week service, Christmas Service, Carolling and New Year Service.
